The Way I Work

No shortcuts. No fudging. Just honest, careful work, right from the first bit of prep to the final brushstroke. Here's exactly what you can expect when you hire me.

Prep isn’t the boring part, its the most important part

Most painting jobs that go wrong don't fail at the painting stage. They fail because the prep was rushed. I've seen enough bodged work to know how easy it is to skip the bits that don't look impressive but make all the difference to the final result.

Filling & Repairs

Cracks, holes, dents, I fill them properly. Not just skim over them hoping the paint hides it. I sand back between coats so it's genuinely smooth.

Dust Control & Cleanliness

I use dust sheets, seal off doorways where needed, and keep a tidy workspace throughout. The room I leave should look better than when I arrived and not like there's been a war in it.

Quality Tools

Good brushes, quality rollers, paint bucket liners. Cheap tools leave marks, fibres, bits and lines. I invest in my kit because it shows in the work and I replace liners and dust sheets after each job.

Taking the Right Amount of Time

Prep can sometimes be slow. There's no way around that. I won't rush it to finish a day early. If it needs the time, there’s no way around that, because cutting corners at this stage is how you end up with a job that looks unprofessional.

Why I Use Trade Paints

I don't use retail paints from. It's not snobbery, it's practical. Trade paints are formulated to cover better, go on smoother, dry consistently, and last longer. They're designed for professional application, which means fewer coats and a better end result for you.

The brands I work with — Dulux Trade, Farrow & Ball, Little Greene, Crown Trade etc — have different strengths and price points, which is why I talk you through options honestly before we agree on anything. You should know what you're paying for and why..
